Retro Porsche Heritage Designs Available for the New 911

There’s always a lot of excitement when Porsche releases a new model, so when the new 911 was revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show late last year, the fan base was wound up to a fever pitch.

To paraphrase Albert Einstein, Porsche does not play dice with its iconic flagship, and now we’ve got some images of some beautiful, retro interior bits Stuttgart will be offering for a few lucky 911 buyers. The Heritage Design Packages will be offered on Heritage Edition 911s starting next year, and pay homage to the wide variety of interior fabrics and patterns which graced the interior of Porsche’s cars from the 1950s through the 1980s.

So if you’d ever wanted a factory 911 with a houndstooth interior, we’d advice you to get your checkbook ready.

Along with all the trick interior appointments, all the Heritage models will come with a matching timepiece. There was no description of the watch in the official press release, but since it’s coming for free with car that starts at over 100k, we’re going to say they’ll be dead sexy units.

While incorporating classic elements like this into a modern interior, with its digital displays — and less minimalist sensibilities — can be tricky, we think the overlay of the dashboards in the lead image are proof that Porsche has pulled it off. We’d have loved to see more images of the interior, and some of the color schemes this awesome palate of Pepita, Pasha, and tartan patterns can create. But we imagine there will be plenty for our eyes to feast upon after these models start production.

After all, if you managed to score on of these rare 911 models, you’d likely want to show it off, wouldn’t you?

At this point, we don’t have specifics on how many examples sporting Porsche Heritage Design packages will be available. But for the record, these are limited-edition Porsches, which means they’ll sell out in a hurry. So if you’re looking to add a little retro flair to your nest Porsche? We’d recommend getting on a list at your local AutoNation-affiliated Porsche dealers in a hurry. And rest assured, any extra coin you might drop this awesome kit is sure to come back to you in spades come resale time.
