WhatCar in the United Kingdom learned that Toyota has put its GT86 convertible project on hold again. According to the report, the FT86 Open Concept was one of the next variants to be added to the GT86 lineup, though inconsistent details have been leaving us in the dry and under the impression that Toyota was uneasy about giving the model a greenlight for production.
Now, the GT86 convertible has been put on hold indefinitely. The original FT86 Open Concept was revealed earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show and production was going to be slated for 2014 or 2015.
Interestingly enough, the Toyota GT86, which could also be had as the Scion FR-S and the Subaru BRZ, was originally designed with other variants in mind, allowing for versatility with modification. But interestingly enough, details as to why Toyota plugged the project were not revealed.
