The Chevrolet Corvette is an American sports coupe and convertible that’s well deserving of a manual rower. Though due to changes in demand and advancements with automatic transmissions, the manual transmission seems to be on the path to extinction. But according to a new report from Edmunds, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette sheds some light on the traditional cog swapper.
According to the report, General Motors shared an interesting statistic–approximately 40 percent of 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray’s sold were equipped with the brand’s latest seven-speed manual. Buyers can still opt for a slightly more practical and less interesting six-speed automatic, soon to be replaced by GM’s first-ever eight-speed automatic in the 2015 model year.
GM also did share that the Z51 Performance Package, a $2,800 extra, was also a common choice, with 55 percent of all 2014 Corvettes sold thus far upgraded.
