In the automotive press, it’s not unusual to head a company’s vehicles described — derisively — as “Russian dolls,” in reference to the nested figurines identical in everything but size. And while you can certainly see the familial relationship between the new Mazda CX-30, and its siblings, the CX-3 and CX-5, we think these gorgeous lines fall squarely into “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” category.
That said, the CX-30 will sit, or nest, between them, creating a line where every buyer will get to pick a size that’s as tailored for their needs as a bespoke garment.
Since it’s based on the Mazda 3, and since it’s, well, a Mazda, we expect handling to be sharp. In the press release, this is about Mazda got when it came to available powertrains:
Basic performance attributes such as accelerating, turning and braking have been dramatically enhanced. Mazda’s Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture enables people to make the most of their natural sense of balance and the latest Skyactiv engines, including Skyactiv-X, allow responsive control of vehicle speed in any driving situation.
But we’re sure to know more in the coming weeks. As far as availability, the new Mazda CX-30 will launch in Europe this summer, and is expected to arrive at your local AutoNation Mazda dealer this fall. Until you can see it in person, check out the pictures below!
