One of the biggest compromises when it comes to shopping in the SUV segment is the space for your family along with room for your cargo. Many SUVs out there, especially compact and mid-sized, tend to sacrifice seating for more cargo or vice versa. However, there are some solutions out there for families that are looking for an SUV that offers both, seating for up to or more than 7 passengers and plenty of cargo space for those trips to the airport or grocery shopping at Costco.
With that in mind, we decided to compile a list of three-row large SUVs that are able to haul lots of people and all of their belongings. Let’s get started.
The Chevrolet Tahoe comes from General Motors long line of best-selling full-size SUVs and happens to offer the best-in-class fuel economy along with other features that no other competitors offer. What features are we talking about? Available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Lane Keep Assist—and just to name a few. The Tahoe fold-flat second- and third-row seats that enhance cargo room – including an available power-folding feature. The Chevrolet Tahoe offers up to 94.7 cubic feet of cargo room behind the front seats, 51.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 15.3 cubic feet behind the third row.
Cadillac Escalade ESV:
Looking for a luxurious way to transport your family and cargo? Well, look no further than the Cadillac Escalade. Of course, if cargo is your big concern then you might want to look at the extended-length Cadillac Escalade ESV. The convenience of power folding second and third row comes standard in the luxurious Escalade and it offers plenty of space. Seating is available for up to seven passengers along with an outstanding 120.9 cubic feet of cargo room with the second row and third row folded. Only folding the third-row will still give you ample space with 76.7 cubic feet and without folding any rows at all will give you 39.3 cubic feet.
Looking to arrive in style in something that won’t hurt your bank account while offering plenty space for your friends, family and cargo? Well, you may want to take a look at the seven-passenger Ford Flex. The Ford Flex offers ample room for passengers and cargo including a total of 83.2 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded. Cargo volume with the second row still in position comes in at 43.2 cubic feet and 20.0 cubic feet behind the third row.
On of the other luxury options in the full-size SUV segment, the Lincoln Navigator has a long history of offering plenty of space for family and cargo. Like the Cadillac Escalade, the Lincoln Navigator offers a standard and extended version. Extended-length Lincoln Navigator models offer 128.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, 86.3 cubic feet behind the second row and 42.6 cubic feet behind the third row. Standard-wheelbase Navigator models offer 103.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, 54.4 cubic feet behind the second row and 18.1 cubic feet behind the third row.
The Nissan Armada is one of the few large SUVs on the market that offers seating for up to eight passengers with plenty of room for luggage and groceries. With the second and third row folded, the Nissan Armada provides an outstanding 97.1 cubic feet of space. With the third row folded, the Armada provides 56.7 cubic feet of space and with all the seats up and in user positions, the Armada offers a strong 20 cubic feet of space.
Like the Nissan Armada but want something a little more luxurious? Check out the 8-passenger Infiniti QX80. The luxury arm of Nissan fitted the Infiniti QX80 with a strong 5.0-liter V8 engine that offers more than enough power to haul this 5,644-pound beast. When it comes to cargo, the Infiniti QX80 does not disappoint. With the second and third row folded (power folding option available, the Infiniti QX80 offers 95.1 cubic feet of space. With only the third row folded you’re able to utilize 49.6 cubic feet and with all the seats up in user position, the Infiniti QX80 offers 16.6 cubic feet.
Another outstanding large SUV from General Motors portfolio of full-size behemoths is the Chevrolet Suburban. Like the Tahoe, the Chevrolet Suburban is the ultimate large family SUV as it offers available built-in 4G LTE Wi-Fi and best-in-class fuel economy. With the second and third rows folded, the Chevrolet Suburban will allow you to use 121.7 cubic feet of space. With the second row up, the Suburban offers 76.7 cubic feet and with all the rows up right the Suburban offers 39.3 cubic feet.
The Dodge Durango is one of the toughest and meanest looking crossovers/SUVs on the market. Offering seating for up to seven passengers, the Dodge Durango offers 84.5 cubic feet of cargo room with the second and third rows folded. With the second row in user position, the Durango offers 47.7 cubic feet and with all the rows up right the Durango offers 17.2 cubic feet of cargo room.
We’re pretty sure by now you’ve noticed a pattern. General Motors is one of the leading full-size SUV suppliers out there and the GMC Yukon is no stranger to the segment. One of the toughest and boldest large SUVs on the market, the GMC Yukon offers seating for up to an outstanding nine passengers and comes in two version – the regular Yukon and the Yukon XL. The standard GMC Yukon offers 94.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, 51.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 15.3 cubic feet behind the third row. The Yukon XL, on the other hand, offers 121.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the first row, 76.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 39.3 cubic feet behind the third row
Finishing our list is the all-new and luxurious Buick Enclave. Behind the first row with second seat folded and third-row seat and cargo management system removed, the Buick Enclave offers a respectable 115.2 cubic feet of cargo room. With the second-row in user position, the Enclave offers 68.9 cubic feet and with all rows up right the Buick Enclave offers 23.3 cubic feet. The Enclave also has a Chevrolet sibling by the name of the Traverse if you’re looking for a similar option.
