Hyundai has officially confirmed it will produce an electric sports car with help from high-performance electric vehicle company Rimac, and we could see it as early as next year.
Details come from our friends at Motor Authority, which reported that the Korean powerhouse has made a $90m investment the company, which is most famous for its electric hypercars, like the Concept One and Concept Two.
The platform for the as-yet-unnamed project will likely be the Veloster-based RM16 N concept, which was unveiled at the 2014 Busan Auto Show.
Along with immediate torque from the electric drivetrain, the plan is for the vehicle to sport a mid-engine architecture, which will aid greatly in keeping it balanced in the bends.
Given how much we liked the 2019 Veloster N we recently had a chance to review, it’s an understatement to say we’re excited about the potential for this green machine, and can’t wait to see how it performs on the track.
There will obviously be lots more to learn about Hyundai’s electric sports car in the months to comes. But there are plenty of great vehicles at your local AutoNation Hyundai dealer right now. So if you’re looking for a versatile Santa Fe, a stylish Elantra, or a sporty Veloster N, pay them a visit today!
