There are some vehicles out there that come with the scariest and meanest front ends – perfect for a drive during Halloween. While the driver’s of these scary cars may not be asking you to get out of the way, the mean faces on some vehicles are enough to get you to move over and switch lanes.
A couple of years ago, I came across a study which found that people in general are more attracted to ‘angry’ looking cars. The study, conducted by EFS Consulting Vienna, asked 40 people – 20 men and 20 women – to assess 38 car models. The results found that people in general tend to gravitate towards cars that are more aggressively designed. Now, there is no doubt that people see human traits in vehicles and according to the study, people are more drawn to cars they feel look more dominant. Why? Well, the main reason is that cars that look angrier seem to portray a sense of power.
With that in mind, we decided to put together a list of the angriest-looking cars on the market today.
1. Ford F-150 SVT Raptor:
The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is one of the meanest looking pickups on the market. This special-edition made for off-roading F-150 has a mean face with an extremely bold Ford logo that screams “get out of my way!” The new Ford F-150 SVT Raptor seems like it will destroy anything in its path and is usually the top pick for car enthusiasts when asked “what car would be your favorite during a zombiepocalypse?”
2. Nissan GT-R:
The Nissan GT-R, otherwise known as Godzilla, is one of the meanest looking sports cars out there. The front-end is highlighted by crocodile eyes styled lights and huge nostrils located on the top of its hood. The grille and the front intakes also mesh together to create a large opening that screams “I will eat any other sports car for lunch and dinner!”
3. Toyota TRD Pro-Series 4Runner:
Another off-roading beast on our list is the Toyota TRD Pro-Series 4Runner. This off-road capable SUV will scare other off-roaders out of their pants. The front-end is highlighted by menacing headlights and large grille that give it an appearance of a very dangerous animal lurking in the desert.
4. Lexus RC F:
Lexus as a brand has been adding its signature spindle grille to all of its vehicles for a more aggressive look. However, nothing looks scarier in the Lexus lineup than the 467 horsepower RC F sports coupe. The huge spindle grill runs all the way down to the lower front end and creates a look that will make you feel even more powerful than the exciting 5.0 liter V8 under the hood.
5. Cadillac CTS-V:
The Cadillac CTS lineup has undergone a huge overhaul when compared to the previous generation. Design wise, the front of the Cadillac CTS is more aggressive than ever. However, when you add a V to the end of CTS you get the all-new 640 horsepower beast. The blacked-out mesh grille, the bold headlights and LED strips on the side create a look that makes the V in the V-Series stand for Very intimidating!
6. Chevrolet Corvette Z06:
When the new-generation Chevrolet Corvette first burst onto the scene, everyone was completely blown away by the sporty and aggressive design. Shortly after, Chevrolet unveiled the new Corvette Z06 to show us that the brand wasn’t joking. Besides its supercar specifications, the front end of the new Corvette Z06 looks completely vicious. If you see this beast in rear-view-mirror you might want to signal and switch lanes before you’re swallowed up.
7. Dodge Challenger:
While many muscle cars try very hard to look mean and tough from the front end, no one does it better than the Dodge Challenger. Imported from Detroit, the Dodge Challenger displays a very angry expression which is highlighted by a giant grille and a hood that extends over it. Of course, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat gets even meaner looking with extended wheel arches and a beefier front-end.
8. Ram 1500 Rebel:
The new Ram 1500 Rebel is all about making a statement. While the new front grille design is a significant styling departure for Ram Truck brand, this off-road capable pickup has nothing but ‘mean’ written all over it. The front end is highlighted by a blacked-out Rebel grille that tops a completely new black off-road front bumper design. The huge ‘RAM’ logo on the front also portrays a very tough appearance.
9. Dodge Charger Hellcat:
What can we say about the Dodge Charger Hellcat? This beastly sedan is a mean looking cat that’s straight out of hell and ready to eat anything in its way. With 707 horsepower under the hood, the front end of the Dodge Charger Hellcat is totally blacked out with a mean grille and menacing headlamps that are sure to scare anyone it follows.
10. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28:
While the Chevrolet Camaro lineup is getting totally redesigned for the sixth-generation of the muscle car, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 remain untouched until further notice. Well, we’re not complaining because the front end of the Camaro Z/28 is nothing but bold and scary. Chevrolet says that the design is very functional as it integrates high-performance aerodynamics for more efficient cooling and stability at high speeds.
