Ford Launches Veteran Employment Program for Tire and Auto Centers

Quick Lane Tire and Auto Centers associated with Ford will get a boost in employees thanks to the “Trading One Uniform for Another” program for former U.S. military veterans.

“Finding meaningful employment is an important task for many service men and women after retiring from active military duty,” said Frederiek Toney, President, Global Ford Customer Service Division. “The ‘Trading One Uniform For Another’ program is another example of Quick Lane’s commitment to the men and women who served our country.”

In partnership with Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the program will award former military with automotive maintenance and repair scholarships to train for the civilian automotive world.

Each of the five recipients will be awarded $10,000 to help them learn the skills they’ll need to become a Quick Lane automotive technician with Ford. Funds given to students can be used toward tuition, books, or fees at an accredited US institution with a program for automotive mechanics, including community colleges, universities, vocational, or trade schools.

Starting in June, anyone can nominate a veteran for any for the scholarship- simply write a short essay about why the chosen veteran should be awarded the scholarship and then submit it via

During Military Awareness Month in November, Quick Lane and DAV will showcase the finalists from the site. The final awardees will be chosen by an online, public vote and announced at Ford Field in Detroit during the Quick Lane Bowl on December 26, 2016.

“We are proud to stand beside the DAV in awarding these scholarships to our U.S. military veterans, thanking them for their service, and congratulating them on the pursuit of a career in automotive service and maintenance,” Toney continued.

To nominate a veteran you know, please head to and submit your entry.
