Now, we should start by saying that we’re not even sure what this vehicle is. But the folks over at BMW Blog say it’s the new four-door M8 Concept Gran Coupe, and we’re inclined to trust them. They also say when it heads to production, it’ll be motivated by the 600-horsepower 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 currently seeing service in the M5. So it’ll be more than a pretty face.
Honestly, we love this concept so much, we don’t even care if BMW wants to saddle it with the nonsensical “four-door coupe” designation. Because it’s so stunning and elegant, the marketing department could throw a bunch of German Scrabble tiles on the ground, say that’s the name, and we’d be cool with it. From this image, it looks like BMW designed a sedan prettier and sleeker than the Aston Martin Rapide—which we honestly didn’t think was possible.
Here’s hoping the production version doesn’t lose too much in the transition from dream to reality. Because we’d love to see this in the showroom of our local AutoNation-Affiliated BMW dealer. We’ll have more details after the wraps officially come off at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
