Few names in the automotive world are as legendary as Porsche. Over the course of its storied history, the company has crafted some of the most iconic vehicles the world has ever seen, and at 70 years old, there’s no sign it’s slowing down.
To celebrate, Stuttgart just released this awesome video, which showcases the amazing hardware that’s won countless races and secured the company’s place in the hearts of enthusiasts everywhere. If there’s an ounce of enthusiast blood in your veins, it’s sure to make you want to go for a spirited drive.
Our personal favorite quote from the clip? “We are what nobody needs, but everyone wants.”
This weekend in France, there will be another tribute to the company’s heritage, as two of the Porsches set to run the grueling 24 Hour of Le Mans will be sporting classic liveries which are sure to bring a smile to race fan’s faces. The first is the number 91, which will rock the famous Rothmans’ scheme that decorated everything from the 959 rally racer, to the 963 Group C competitor. Of course, given current regulations, there won’t be any mention of the tobacco company. But trust us, every Porsche fan will know exactly what they’re looking at.
The second livery will be more whimsical, and pay tribute to the “Pink Pig” design that graced the 917 which took to the track for the 1971 running of the race. We’ll let you figure out where the nickname came from… Who says Germans don’t have a sense of humor? Enjoy the video, and cross your fingers that one of these cars will add another feather to Porsche’s helmet.
Of course, if you’re looking to add a Porsche to your garage, simply swing by your local AutoNation-affiliated Porsche dealer. Just be warned — everyone might be a little distracted while the 24 Hours of Le Mans is underway…
