With dynamic coupe-inspired design cues and plenty of technology to keep you connected at all times, it’s no wonder the Equinox is Chevrolet’s second-best selling vehicle.
The latest model year builds upon the Equinox’s best traits, and now offers more standard equipment while upgrading existing amenities and capabilities. Available appearance and convenience packages add flair in all the right places, and the interior has never been more gadget-friendly, offering up to six USB data ports.
Don’t let its “small SUV” classification fool you — the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox enhances your lifestyle in a big way. Learn more with a closer look at our Equinox LT 2.0T Redline Edition test model.
2019 Chevrolet Equinox LT 2.0T Exterior
In the all-too-crowded landscape of small SUVs, the 2019 Equinox sets itself apart by offering a fresh design approach and sporty details that convey tons of personality.
LED headlamps and LED taillights are now standard for the new model year, and our Iridescent Pearl test model was especially eye-catching in the sunlight thanks to the available Redline Edition appearance package, which added 19-inch Redline aluminum wheels, a specially-designed Redline grille, black metallic mirror caps, and blacked-out bow ties and emblems.
Other thoughtful touches on the LT trim — like deep-tinted rear glass and the deletion of the luggage rack — also help to emphasize the athletic feel provided by a selection of red accents found on the wheels and hidden behind every model badge. These small but impactful details communicate the enthusiasm of the person in the driver’s seat — you didn’t just settle on this vehicle; you chose it because it best represents your passion for the road.
Additional exterior highlights of the 2019 Equinox LT Redline Edition include daytime running lamps, trailering equipment, power adjustable heated mirrors, and a power rear liftgate.
2019 Chevrolet Equinox LT 2.0T Interior
For the 2019 model year, the comfortable and spacious interior receives significant upgrades surrounding connectivity and ease of use. Four USB data ports are now standard, and the Chevrolet Infotainment System features up to an 8-inch HD touchscreen that’s capable of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.
Our test model’s upgraded screen provided quick access to a multitude of entertainment options, like satellite radio, streaming music apps, navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and much more. The hardware enhancements for this new version of the infotainment system are very evident as apps open near-instantaneously with smooth animations and high-definition images. The experience is similar to using a tablet, with gestures, swipes and precise touches.
Standard active noise cancellation plus an acoustic windshield means the Equinox’s ride is impressively quiet, and it allowed us to enjoy the surprisingly powerful 6-speaker sound system. Our daily commute easily turned into a mobile karaoke party.
Although the Equinox is classified as a small SUV, there’s nothing small about its 63.9 cu. ft. of maximum cargo volume when the rear split-folding seats are down. Switches located in the trunk area allow you to quickly convert the rear seats into a flat surface for bulky items or your four-legged friends.
Our test model also came equipped with the optional Confidence & Convenience Package, which adds leather accents to the premium cloth interior, as well as remote vehicle start, heated front seats, and dual zone automatic climate control.
With all of these thoughtful amenities — including 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and OnStar services — you’ll feel like you never left the comfort of your own home.
2019 Chevrolet Equinox LT 2.0T Performance
The 2019 Equinox model line-up offers a variety of efficient engine choices, and our test model came equipped with the 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 powerplant. This peppy motor punches well above its weight class as it delivers 252 horsepower along with 260 lb-ft of torque.
Thanks to direct fuel injection plus an optimized turbocharger, throttle response is immediate, and accelerations happen with urgency. Having the 2.0-liter engine also means that the Equinox is paired with an intelligent nine-speed automatic transmission for enhanced fuel economy and optimized power delivery. This gearbox will also automatically assist in towing up to 3,500 pounds.
Behind the wheel, the 2019 Equinox handles much like a traditional car. It disguises its height and mass with a specially-tuned suspension system along with a direct-acting stabilizer bar. The result is a confident stance with very little body movement, allowing the Equinox to maneuver effortlessly around obstacles or when you want to get a bit spirited on the road.
At higher vehicle speeds, standard active aero shutters automatically engage to help the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox 2.0T achieve an EPA estimated fuel economy of 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway**.
It’s clear that Chevrolet’s passion for creating exciting vehicles has made its way to the Equinox, as this small SUV combines the best of comfort and performance to deliver one of the most versatile transportation options available today.
2019 Chevrolet Equinox LT 2.0T Safety
Every 2019 Equinox comes standard with a suite of advanced safety features that includes GM’s signature StabiliTrak system (stability control plus traction control), advanced airbags throughout the cabin, an upgraded HD rear vision camera, and the ever-watchful Teen Driver Technology.
Our test model’s Confidence & Convenience Package added even more warning systems, like rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change alert with side blind zone alert.
These all-around warning systems work together to deliver enhanced awareness to the driver, and offer peace of mind when navigating congested streets or parking lots.
