The 2020 Jeep Gladiator pickup was supposed to be revealed at the LA Auto Show. But thanks to an eagle-eyed member of Jeep Gladiator Forum, we’re getting a sneak peak at exactly how the eagerly anticipated addition to the Jeep lineup will look.
Now, if you think these have the feel of official press photos, and not the half-blurry spy shots, you’d be correct. Because these were sourced directly from the Jeep website. Apparently, they were posted on accident, by someone who probably isn’t stoked about their next performance review right now.
That said, we think this baby is pretty tough, and if you can’t wait to park one in your garage, we’d recommend getting down to your local AutoNation Jeep dealer sooner rather than later. Folks have been asking for a Jeep pickup since the demise of the Comanche way back in 1992, so we can’t imagine these are going to sit on the lot long — if at all.
One thing we think is really interesting? The standard configuration will feature a soft top, which means that in the increasingly crowded mid-size pickup segment, buyer will now have a convertible option. How cool is that? Of course, just like the Wrangler and Rubicon, a hard top will also be available.
Of course, given that this is a Jeep, it’ll have serious off-road chops. According to the leaked spec sheet, the truck will be able to ford 30 inches of water, there will be beefy Dana axles front and rear, and the sway bar will disconnect at the push of a button. While we’re not sure exactly what will be under the hood, all signs point toward two options: a 3.6-liter V6, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6. An eight-speed auto will be available, but fortunately, folks who want to row their own will still be able to select a six-speed manual.
Stay tuned for more on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, as there’s sure to be plenty of info after the official reveal in Los Angeles!
