With cars like the Hellcat and the Demon, the engineers at Fiat Chrysler have already proven they don’t mess around. And now, there’s even the more evidence of the crazy devotion to power these wizards possess, because the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty will be packing a whopping 1000 lb-feet of torque. Yup, you read that right — a mass-market pickup with a four-digit torque figure is going to be available at your local AutoNation Ram dealer.
At this point? We’re just wondering where the ceiling is on the power wars. Because right now, it seems to be somewhere in the exosphere, not that we’re complaining. Far from it.
Of course, that brutal amount of twist is good for a ton of bragging rights, but it also makes the new 2019 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty extraordinarily capable. Thanks to the turbocharged 6.7-liter V8 diesel, the top-spec Ram will have the grunt to tow a whopping 35,000 pounds, and boast a 7,600-pound bed capacity. Shifting duties will be handled by a six-speed automatic transmission that’s been fortified with adamantium, the same material used to construct Wolverine’s skeleton and claws.
Actually, as you might have guessed, that last bit is fictional. But when the industry is producing factory pickups with these kind of numbers? You have to admit, it reads a little like science fiction. We’ll have a test of the 2019 Ram 2500 heavy Duty as soon as it hits the press fleets, so stay tuned for more on this incredible new hauler.
