We think the Buick Regal Sportback looks just as good as entry-level offerings from Audi and the BMW. The coupe-like roofline and the five-door hatch layout really give this Buick a lot of expressive character. In our opinion, it also looks better than most of its rivals. The Buick Regal GS gets a few exclusive design elements that really make it stand out. Those elements include a sportier front and rear fascias, side skirts, a rear spoiler, standard 19-inch wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, and a Sport mesh grille with Piano Black finish.

Now, what will cost you extra? The Sport Red color pictured here comes at no extra cost – however, every other color choice will cost you between $495 to $1,095. To get the stylish LED headlamps you’ll have to go for the $485 Appearance Package which apparently also adds wireless smartphone charging.

Overall, the Buick, Holden, Opel, Vauxhall team should be really proud of what they designed here. Not to mention, we’re also fans of the Buick Regal TourX Wagon.

One of the things we’ve been impressed with in recent years is the vast improvements in quality and luxury features across all manufacturers, and this Buick is no exception.

Standard convenience features in the Buick Regal GS include AGR sports seats that are heated/cooled and also feature an impressive massage functionality. Other convenience features include dual-zone climate control, heated flat-bottom steering, and more. Tech wise, standard features include Bluetooth, USB/AUX ports, OnStar 4G LTE WiFi, 8-inch touchscreen display, and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto so there is no need to add navigation for an extra $945 unless you want the upgraded Bose sound system. Safety wise, you get a rear view camera, park assist, blind spot alert as standard but can upgrade to the $1,690 Driver Confidence II Package for adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist / departure warning, heads-up display, and more. Wireless charging is as part of a $485 Appearance Package.

Space wise, the 2019 Buick Regal GS offers a total of 36.9-inches of rear legroom and a cargo capacity of 60.7 ft³.

2019 Buick Regal Performance

Power for the 2019 Buick Regal GS comes from a 3.6-liter V6 engine making a total of 310 horsepower with a maximum torque of 282 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic engine that allows for a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 140 mph.

Now, unless you’re going for the M badge, BMWs don’t handle like the ultimate driving machines they used to. In order to cater to the mass market, BMW and others have opted for lighter steering to make for a more relaxed daily driver. Offerings from Audi tend to be a little sportier.

With that being said, the Buick Regal GS also opts for a light steering. It’s only a touch better than the standard Regal. But when you pop it in Sport or GS mode (Buick’s take on Sport+) the steering adds a little bit of weight for some impressive sports car handling. Surprisingly enough, there are no paddle shifters because Buick thinks those are gimmicky. Braking power is very potent thanks to the Brembo brakes calipers on the front. Also, let’s not overlook the fact that the Buick Regal GS has all-wheel-drive which most of its rivals offer at a premium. Not to mention, naturally aspirated V6 engines are hard to come by in this segment these days.

Fuel economy figures come in at 19/27 mpg* (city/highway).
