If you take a look at the 2018 INFINITI Q70 alongside its competitors, you might think that the flagship INFINITI sedan is getting a bit outdated. However, when you park it next to the likes of the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A7, Cadillac CTS, the INFINITI Q70 stands out from the crowd with its sleek exterior design language. With that in mind, it can be said that the INFINITI Q70 has always been very progressive when it comes to exterior styling. But what about the powertrain, tech, and the interior? Since much of the 2018 INFINITI Q70 has remained untouched for a couple of years, we wanted to see how it holds up to the new innovations in the automotive industry.
With that in mind, we spent a week driving around the 2018 INFINITI Q70 5.6 to see how it stands the test of time. Let’s get into it.
2018 Infiniti Q70 5.6 Exterior
As mentioned above, the INFINITI Q70 has always been well ahead of its competitors when it comes to exterior styling. While most of the Q70’s competitors strive to be elegant and somewhat bland, the Q70 aims to be edgy and sexy. Every angle of the 2018 INFINITI Q70 is a delight to look at. The front end is highlighted by fashionable cat-eye headlamps and a low hood that features two arches that give the Q70 a very strong and aggressive attitude. When you look at the 2018 INFINITI Q70 from the side it seems as if the luxury sedan is always in motion. The rear is heightened with LED taillights and chrome touches.
We’ve found ourselves wondering when INFINITI will update the design language of the Q70 but when we really compared it to its competition side by side, we realized that the luxury sedan is still way ahead of the segment.
INFINITI has achieved the perfect equilibrium between style, sport, and luxury when it comes to the exterior of the Q70 and we’re completely okay with them squeezing out another model year with this design language.
2018 Infiniti Q70 5.6 Interior
Take a seat inside and you’ll notice that the interior of the INFINITI Q70 hasn’t received a notable upgrade for many years. Unlike new INFINITI models that feature the brand’s new dual-screen infotainment system, the 2018 INFINITI Q70 still comes with the single 8-inch touchscreen display that the brand’s been using for years. Nonetheless, the system is very straightforward to navigate over the dual-screen display so it does have its advantages even though it is aging.
For the 2018 model year, all INFINITI Q70 models come standard with the Essential Package which includes navigation, leather heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, and a Bose 10-speaker audio system. It also includes INFINITI’s signature around-view monitor and a front and rear sonar system. Other standard features include Bluetooth handsfree calling and audio streaming, moonroof, push-button start, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, dual-zone climate control, and more.
INFINITI does offer two optional packages including the Sport and Premium Select Edition Package that will give you some extra visual and tech enhancements. However, the 2018 INFINITI Q70 does come rather loaded leaving very little extra to be craved.
Dimensions wise, the 2018 INFINITI Q70 offers ample space for its passengers. Front row passengers will appreciate a total of 44.4-inches of legroom while rear passengers will enjoy a total of 36.2-inches. Overall, we were quite impressed with the use of high-quality materials and the level of comfort that is available in the 2018 INFINITI Q70.
