The 2015 Monterey Car Week event The Quail, A Motorsport’s Gathering was our first opportunity to get a personal look at the evolutionary styling of the all-new 2017 Audi R8 since it was first unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show earlier this year. To no one’s surprise, the Dynamite Red 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus on display at the Audi booth was absolutely stunning.
Borrowing its basic shape from its immediate predecessor, the all-new Audi R8 is more refined than ever. Subtle details like redesigned side blades, a stronger shoulder line over the rear wheels, and sleek, low-mounted headlights, provide the 2017 Audi R8 with a modern but familiar appearance.
Inside is where substantial changes can be found. An all-new interior sports an intricate set of digital gauges and a big red “start” button on the steering wheel. Unfortunately, the beautiful gated gear shifter has been jettisoned for a more run of the mill shift lever design.
With a claimed top speed of just over 205 mph and a scant 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 3.2 seconds, the 610 horsepower Audi R8 V10 Plus is sure to be a joy to drive when it arrives stateside as a 2017 model year vehicle.
