One of the most surprising and interesting debuts at the 2016 New York Auto Show was made by Hyundai Motor Company’s new luxury brand – Genesis. The new Genesis Hybrid Sport Sedan Concept, also known as the Genesis New York Concept, essentially provides us our first look at its future competitor that will compete with the BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
“The New York Concept is a progressive concept car that showcases the design quality of the brand,” said Manfred Fitzgerald, Head of Genesis. “With its expressive volumes and refined design, the New York Concept truly embodies the ‘Athletic Elegance,’ that characterizes Genesis products and will continue to do so for future models that come from our luxury brand. Revealing the concept in New York is a fitting opportunity for Genesis.”
The Genesis Hybrid Sport Sedan highlights the brand’s Athletic Elegance design, which first made its debut on the Vision G Concept and on the production Genesis G90 full-size luxury sedan.
Power for the Genesis Hybrid Sport Sedan comes from a 2.0 liter GDI engine that’s mated to a unspecified hybrid powertrain. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
In our opinion, the Genesis New York Concept looks simply outstanding and we can’t wait to see the production model, which will reportedly carry the G70 badge.
