Pop quiz! What’s the best-selling sedan model in the Lexus lineup? If you guessed the ES – you are correct! The refreshed and redesigned 2016 Lexus ES is making its world debut at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show and will kick-off production in the United States later this year. It will also enter production at Toyota’s Georgetown, Kentucky plant, making it the first Lexus vehicle to be built in the United States.
“Our development concept was ‘Take the ES to the next level of elegance and progressive luxury,’” said Toshio Asahi, ES Chief Engineer. “The Lexus ES is renowned for its innovative exterior and interior design. We wanted to build on that and make it more elegant, and tailor the car with the latest technology Lexus has to offer. We’re confident that the new Lexus ES will be a leader in its class and attract a lot of attention.”
The 2016 Lexus ES gets the brand’s new and aggressive swindle grille front fascia. The new grille is accompanied by a new design for the headlights, which are now equipped with LED projector technology, and feature the iconic “L”-shaped arrowhead Daytime Running Lights.
The interior of the 2016 Lexus ES has also been slightly upgraded with better refinement and new color combinations. You will also find a larger 4.2 inch TFT color display that houses all the driver information as well as upgraded multimedia infotainment center.
The new Lexus ES will also take advantage of the new Lexus Safety System + which packages a range of safety features into one offering. The Lexus Safety System includes Pre-Collision Warning System, Brake Assist, Lane Departure Aler, Automatic High Beam, Radar Guided Cruise Control and more.
Lexus will announce more details closer to the market launch of the new 2016 ES sedan.
