The Buick Encore is getting sportier! GM announced today that it is releasing the 2016 Buick Encore Sport Touring, which is a more spirited take on the popular subcompact crossover. The new Buick Encore Sport Touring is set apart by unique exterior design touches and its all-new 1.4 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder turbo.
To set the sportier Encore apart from the base model, Buick added a winged rear spoiler, 18-inch aluminum premium-finish wheels and body-color door handles. Power now comes from a 1.4 liter 4-cylinder turbo making 153 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque – that’s 11 percent more horsepower and close to 20 percent more torque. Start/stop technology is also a part of the mix to help improve fuel-economy.
“Encore is a driving force behind Buick’s expansion and a catalyst for introducing a new generation of customers to the brand,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president of Buick. “The all-new Encore Sport Touring broadens that base, giving customers more choices – along with more performance, more technology and more efficiency.”
Sales of the 2016 Encore Sport Touring start this fall.
