Lincoln came to the 2015 New York Auto Show with an all-new look at the legendary Continental nameplate. Lincoln says that the new Continental Concept “signals the future of quiet luxury and the all-new full-size sedan coming next year” – which means a successor the Continental is on the way.
“Luxury at its best is about simplifying and quietly exceeding expectations, rather than being the loudest statement on the road,” said Mark Fields, Ford Motor Company president and CEO. “The Continental Concept showcases the promise of quiet luxury from Lincoln going forward. It also is a strong indication of what’s to come next year as we introduce our new Lincoln Continental full-size luxury sedan.”
Design wise, the Lincoln Continental Concept features an elegant silhouette with an all-new one-piece centered grill that features the Lincoln Start graphic. The company says that the design of the Lincoln Continental Concept hints at the overall future design theme for the brand.
What powers the Lincoln Continental Concept you ask? Under the hood resides a 3.0 liter V6 EcoBoost engine with Lincoln Drive Control that offers the driver to pick between three driving modes – normal, sport and comfort.
“For an effortlessly powerful and rewarding driving experience, the Lincoln Continental Concept combines a new unique-to-Lincoln EcoBoost engine with a suite of technologies that deliver the ideal balance of a smooth ride with confident handling,” said Scott Tobin, Lincoln Product Development director.
Lincoln has yet to confirm when exactly we will see the new Continental but it will definitely be next year. While we’re not sure how much of the concept will make it to production, we are really liking where the overall design language for Lincoln is going.
