One big complaint we’ve heard about the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is that it’s just not aggressive enough.
In case you’re wondering? That’s a joke, because at press time, tires can’t talk, and they’re really the only things that should be complaining about Dodge’s insane 707-horsepower muscle car. After all, no rubber is going to live very long when even mild use of the go pedal is going to transform them into plumes of smoke. But as Ma Mopar has been inclined to demonstrate over the past few years, there’s no kill like overkill, so for 2019, the company is bringing back a staple of ’70s high performance, the “Raisin Bran” hood.
The hood got its nickname because when it was originally released, commercials for the breakfast cereal touted that it had two scoops of raisins in every box. For the record, in the press release, Dodge refers to it as a dual-snorkel hood, but we like Raisin Bran hood better. The press release was pretty brief, so we don’t know if there’s going to be any more power on the table.
“Dodge is again reaching back to its 100-plus-year history as it evolves the Challenger lineup for 2019, introducing a new dual-snorkel hood on Hellcat models that pays homage to the distinctive Mopar design themes from some of its most famous muscle cars. This new fully functional hood harkens back to the mid-60s and early-70s, but with a modern interpretation that looks even more sinister and provides maximum air intake to the supercharged powerplant. More information to come this summer…”
We’ll keep you posted on anything else we hear about the 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, but if you’re looking to put one of these beasts in your garage, it’d be a good idea to head over to your local AutoNation Dodge dealer. If history is any indication, they’ll likely be sold before they even hit the lot!
