The 2015 Mazda Miata MX-5 is almost here and it’s turning out to be the next biggest thing from the small Japanese automaker.
And because it’s a completely new model, the new Miata MX-5 is described to have completely different styling than the outgoing model. This is to reflect Mazda’s current Kodo design language, visible on the new CX-5, Mazda3, Mazda6, and the recently newly introduced next-gen Demio/Mazda2 subcompact.
From what we know, the Miata gets a new lightweight SKYACTIV-CHASSIS that shaves off more than 220lbs off the current model. A lower center of gravity was factored in to improve handling while the engine gets moved closer to the center for a mid-front placement. Oh, and don’t forget classic rear-wheel drive.
The new Mazda Miata MX-5 is set to debut on September 4th of this year.
