Mercedes-AMG celebrated its 50th anniversary with a new concept at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show with the debut of the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept. The model hints at feature four-door coupe model that will be added to the already strong AMG GT family.
“With the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept, we are giving a preview of our third completely independently developed sports car and are extending the attractive AMG GT family to include a four-door variant,” said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “The AMG GT Concept, like the AMG Hypercar, which we are presenting at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt, illustrates how we are defining performance of the future at AMG.”
The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept features new EQ Power+ that increases performance with hybridization with a total output of up to 805 horsepower. The powertrain consists of a 4.0-liter V8 bi turbo gasoline engine that is mated to a high-performance electric motor. The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept can run from 0 to 60 mph in less than three seconds. The system also includes a 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system that is supported by an electric motor.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept features three driving modes including purely electric, purely engine driven, and a combination of both electric and gasoline.
We’ll keep a very close eye on the new Mercedes-AMG GT Concept and when it will hit roads. Stay tuned for more details.
