The Audi TT is a small two-door sports car that has held its own in a fairly competitive segment and has generated an impressive following that has helped push it to become a more mainstream luxury sports car. To help push that image to the next level, Audi is now making the most powerful TT ever and definitely the most exciting TT ever.
The 2017 Audi TT RS stands out from its competitors thanks to a new front bumper with larger intakes, a new rear bumper with the ‘RS’ trademark, oval pipes, sporty side skirts, carbon fiber mirror caps, a sporty rear wing, and sharply designed LED headlamps. The new Audi TT RS also gets rid of the center display and focuses all the instruments and displays on the driver. The Audi virtual cockpit features a huge 12.3-inch screen that brings all the key information right in front of the driver – including the speedometer, navigation, audio information and much more. For the TT RS, the display also features information like tire pressure, torque, and g-forces.
Let’s get to what powers the new 2017 Audi TT RS. Under the hood is a new five-cylinder aluminum engine that produces a total of 400 horsepower (60 more than the previous model) and a total of 354 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a standard seven-speed dual clutch transmission, the 2017 Audi TT RS runs from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.7 seconds for the Coupe and 3.9 seconds for the convertible. If you’re not impressed, you may want to consider that the 540 horsepower Audi R8 runs from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, so the TT RS is not too far behind. Audi’s engineering team also focused on improving the handling of the new 2017 TT RS by lowering the tuned suspension by 10mm, while also offering the option of a sportier suspension with adaptive dampers in magnetic ride technology.
The 2017 Audi TT RS will go on sale in the United States early next year. Stay tuned for pricing and availability details, or visit your local AutoNation-affiliated Audi dealership to see what’s available now.
