If you didn’t notice, minivans are back! So we thought we’d take a little tour through the 2018 offerings by Honda and Toyota. There’s a lot to love with both, and we’re particularly taken with the technology and safety features which will add a whole new dimension to any family road trip.
So without further ado, let’s dive right into our latest Head to Head: 2018 Honda Odyssey vs. 2018 Toyota Sienna.
2018 Honda Odyssey vs 2018 Toyota Sienna Performance Comparison
Verdict: A tie. Both minivans offer multiple trim levels and configurations, and though the Toyota is slightly more powerful, each competitor’s engine output is similar enough that we don’t think it should make or break any buying decisions. Handling and performance are car-like, which is what buyers have come to expect from modern minivans. So while you won’t find yourself dreaming about carving up a twisty road, each will handle short jaunts around town and long trips with equal aplomb. Check out the breakdown below.
- The 2018 Honda Odyssey is available in five trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring, and Elite.
- The Odyssey has a 24- valve V6 engine that puts out 280 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 262 pound-feet of torque, with direct fuel injection.
- The 2018 Toyota Sienna comes in trim five levels: L, LE, SE, XLE, and Limited. There’s also a Premium option package available.
- All 2018 Toyota Sienna minivans come with a 3.5-liter V6 that generates 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque.
Notable mention: The Toyota Sienna is still the only minivan available with an AWD option.
