Check Out the Excellent 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe

Looking for a stylish coupe? Consider the all-new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe. The seventh-generation E400 Coupe heeds a fresh new design perspective—and the redesign is easy on the eyes.

In a recent chat with Car and Driver, Mercedes-Benz design chief Gorden Wagener declared that “the time of creases is over.” Indeed, the absence of a B-pillar and the massive sunroof lends a free-flowing air to the coupe, flanked by fluid fenders and turbine-style air vents, punctuated by a gentle flair to the rear.

While the wheelbase has been whittled down by 2.6 inches, the current model is both larger and wider than the last ECoupe design built on the C-Class framework. That allows the 2018 E400 Coupe to offer 1.8 more inches of legroom in the back, which allows comfortable seating for two adults—a first for the midsized luxury coupe.

The 3.0-liter DOHC twin-turbo V-6 remains unchanged, and pumps out 329 horsepower and 345 pound-feet of torque, but it’s now paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. This is the only engine choice for the 2018 E400 coupe, though options include choice of rear wheel or 4Matic all wheel drive. Fuel economy is noted as 20/26/22 mpg*.

Performance, as you’d imagine, is spirited as the new Merc will make the sprint from zero to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds in rear-wheel-drive form, and opting for the 4Matic model drops that time to 5.2 seconds. The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe well-tuned suspension also offers sublime cruising comfort and the cabin is awash is supple leather and slick wood veneers. In short? It’s the kind of car that makes you wish you could drop everything and hit the storied Highway 1 out in California.

Look out Audi A5, BMW 6-Series and BMW 4-Series—the sheriff’s back in town.

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe MSRP starts a $58,900**
