Chevrolet came into SEMA Show 2016 with an assortment of weapons in its arsenal. They did this by showing off not only vehicles but a bunch of their crate motors that are available to purchase for people building project cars along with a number of OEM accessories. They displayed everything from off-road vehicles with fuel cells, as you’ll see with the Colorado ZH2 Fuel Cell Concept below, to the new Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback Blue Line Concept. Chevrolet is one of those great manufacturers that literally has something for everyone. Visit your local AutoNation Chevrolet dealership to see what they’re currently carrying in person.
A collaboration between Chevrolet and U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) engineers, the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 Fuel Cell Concept was one of the more intriguing vehicles at this year’s SEMA Show. The pair worked for over a decade together to advance fuel cell electric technology though mutually beneficial joint agreements. In 2017, the U.S. military will begin evaluating the vehicle in extreme conditions.
Built for those chasing waves or other outdoor activities, the Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Hurley Concept is sure to excite those with a passion for the outdoors.
Possibly due to the potentially impending zombie apocalypse, SEMA Show 2016 definitely catered to those looking for an off-road or off the grid lifestyle- even in the form of smaller multipurpose off-road vehicles. The Chevrolet Trax ACTIV Concept shows what is capable when you build a city-smart SUV for off-road fun.
In what is sure to be one of the more likely concepts in Chevy’s display this year, the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Carhartt Concept would be an amazing trim line addition to the Silverado line-up. Nothing says craftsmanship, versatility, and functionality more than Carhartt and the Chevy Silverado.
Sticking to the theme of form and function, Chevy is able to squeeze some fashion out of their work trucks as well. The Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Alaskan Edition Concept is powered by the all-new 6.6 liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine with 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. That’s right, 910 lb-ft of torque!
One of the go-fast cars featured in Chevy’s booth this year was their Camaro Drag Race Development Concept (Test Car 002). This car was built for those looking to go as fast as possible from point A to B. Outfitted with their 6.2 liter LT1 V8 engine mated to an 8-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission, along with an electro-mechanical line-lock, and small brake package, all this to support 10-second elapsed times in a production-based model. RECARO racing seat, 8 point roll bar, 5-point racing harness complete the package for safety.
The 2017 Chevrolet COPO Camaro also made its way to SEMA Show 2016 wearing Anodized Hyper Blue exterior with Gloss Black accents. The supercharged LSX-based 350 cubic inch engine is teamed up with an SFI-approved ATI TH400 3-speed automatic transmission. Only 69 COPO Camaros will be produced for the 2017 model year. Number 001 pictured here will be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson with the proceeds going to charity.
New to the Chevrolet lineup is the Cruze Hatchback. This hatchback was outfitted with a plethora of OEM accessories including 18-inch aluminum wheels, Chevrolet Performance brake package, and ground effects kit. Chevy is showing us how much you can personalize their cars before they leave the showroom floor.
