Looking to buy a new Acura NSX? Looking to buy a new Acura NSX to turn into a race car? Aren’t we all… Well, if you’re interested in racing an Acura NSX, but you’re short on facilities or time to build a full carbon fiber GT3 race car, you’re in luck! Acura just announced they will be selling full carbon fiber bodied Acura NSX GT3 race cars globally! Seriously. The black carbon fiber NSX race car you’ve been watching your favorite race team test for the last year? If you’ve got around $610,000 US laying around, you too can own an NSX GT3 race car.
The race car will feature a production-based 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 racing engine. It will also receive a six-speed, sequential-shift, racing gearbox that will power just the rear wheels. And the real beauty? No hybrid nonsense! Acura is giving its race cars just the meat and potatoes it knows the racers will want.
Acura is touting the NSX GT3 as race car which has received over 50,000 miles of on-track development and which has already won multiple races around the world. This particular NSX GT3 race car is already eligible to race in more than two dozen FIA-sanctioned racing series around the world including:
- The Pirelli World Challenge and WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series in North America
- The Blancpain GT Series and 24 Hours Nürburgring in Europe
- The Blancpain GT Series Asia and GT Asia Series
- The Super GT GT300 class in Japan
- The Australian GT Championship
- The Intercontinental GT Challenge
“We are extremely pleased with the progress and success of the NSX GT3 in our inaugural season,” said Art St. Cyr, President of HPD. “Winning at Detroit and Watkins Glen, two very different circuits, in this highly competitive class illustrates the breadth of capabilities of the NSX GT3. We look forward to seeing the car in Victory Circle at tracks around the world in 2018 and beyond.”
“We’ve intended to compete at the highest level since the NSX was just a sketch on a pad,” said Jon Ikeda, Acura Vice President and General Manager. “To see the NSX GT3 winning races and now available for racers and track enthusiasts to enjoy around the world is a major milestone for the second generation NSX, the Acura brand and the global development team that made it possible.”
