For the fourth year in a row, Team AutoNation was the largest team at Miles for Moffitt at last Saturday’s Miles for Moffitt event in Tampa. Held at the USF Sun Dome, this year’s Miles for Moffitt marked the 12th annual event and was a huge success. Since 2006, more than $3.2 million has been raised for the Moffitt Cancer Center by the event, and each year 100% of the Miles for Moffitt’s proceeds go directly to that fund.
The Moffitt Cancer Center is a Tampa-based institution known for its cancer research and prevention. The facility opened originally in 1986 and has since expanded to include several new buildings and events. On the U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of top cancer hospitals, Moffit Cancer Center ranked 6th in the nation for 2016. Miles for Moffitt encourages people to exercise while simultaneously helping support the efforts of the Moffitt Cancer Center. A 15K Challenge is held, along with a slightly less daunting 10K and 5K. A 1-Mile Run/Walk, Wheel Chair Races, and Kids Dash offer activities for those less interested in the classic run.
May 13th marked the 12th celebration of the event supporting Moffitt Cancer Center. The Center has made “a lasting commitment to the prevention and cure of cancer, working tirelessly in the areas of patient care, research and education to advance one step further in fighting this disease” and Miles for Moffitt offers a chance for others to join in the battle. Team AutoNation was the largest team and top donor for this year’s event.
Stop by the Miles for Moffitt website to learn more and even participate. Although the event itself is over, the option to donate is still readily available. AutoNation is on a mission to drive out cancer- one event, one donation, one run at a time. Join us if you can.
