AutoNation Chairman’s Answer the Call Award: Hala Danaf

As AutoNation drives its performance from good to great, we must recognize those who go the extra mile for our customers. This recognition program awards Associates for efforts which exceed their normal responsibilities and add significant value to the organization and our customers.

Hala Danaf is a Receptionist with AutoNation Honda Fremont. She was nominated by Ken Brizendine for her service concerning customer Mr. Hunter.

Hala had the pleasure of working with a customer who bought a car from our sister store in Colorado. Mr. Hunter is 89 years of age and he and his wife are both deaf; they only can communicate by writing on sheet of paper. Mr. Hunter moved to California from Colorado and went to the DMV to register his car in California. The DMV told him he must go to the dealership that he bought the car from to have the VIN verified, we were the closest AutoNation store to him. Understanding he was a little frustrated, Hala called our sister store in Colorado to help Mr. Hunter get the necessary paperwork together so he could receive the registration and title to the vehicle. Hala did this on her own without anyone else’s help. Hala said he was a very nice man who just needed some help because he was totally lost on what to do. While on the phone with the other store, Hala also found out that Mr. Hunter needed to complete another sales contract. She had the store overnight it to California so we could finish what needed to be done to complete the California registration process. Hala spent about three hours working on resolving the issue, the entire time, communicating with Mr. Hunter and his wife by pen and paper. He was so relieved and happy with the service she provided, there were tears in his eyes that said more than a thousand words. He just wrote “Thank You.”
