Yup, we’ve written a lot about SEMA this week—because at this crazy automotive carnival, there’s always plenty to see! And this year, there was even more to be excited about, because we brought a killer F-150 customized by the experts at Flat 12 Gallery. Since the intricate hand-drawn art even impressed the legendary photographer Larry Chen’s legions of fans, we’re going to call that a win! So operation AutoNation at SEMA was a huge success!
We didn’t spend all our time chatting with fans in the booth though—far from it! We headed out to the floor and took in all the sites and sounds the Las Vegas Convention Center had to offer, and even managed to wolf down a dozen or so Nathan’s hot dogs along the way. Obviously, it’s always hard to pick favorites among this crowded field, but we’ll admit that the officially licensed R3 Mustang Fastback Classic Body Shell we saw in the Ford booth made our imaginations run like the GT350R’s flat-plane crank V-8. Isn’t the idea of being able to skip all the restoration and skip right to the build amazing? We sure think so.
We also got a kick out of seeing the Hyundai i30 N which raced at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, a grip of NASCAR-themed Camry’s from Toyota, a WWII-era Willys Jeep in the FIAT Chrysler booth, and the stunning naked carbon GT3 Acura NSX. And who could forget Chevy’s ZL1 1LE Nurburgring Track Car? With a supercharged V-8 making 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, magnetic ride control, and a bevy of aero bits, this baby was built to take on some of the fastest cars in the world. It literally beats up on machines costing three times as much!
