Alfa Romeo has released plenty of info about its new Stelvio Quadrifoglio, including its record-setting time around the notorious Nürburgring. But until now, we haven’t known how much this hot rod Italian crossover is going to cost. And that’s kind of important. So here we go.
If you’re planning to pick up a Stelvio Quadrifoglio, the cost of entry starts at $81,590, and while that’s a hefty chunk of change it’s about on par for the class. The Porsche Macan Turbo—which we see as the Alfa’s premier competitor—runs about $77k, but opting for the Performance Pack will increase that figure another ten grand. And while drivers aren’t likely to notice the performance delta in day-to-day driving, it’s worth noting that the Alfa is quicker than its competitor from Stuttgart.
Now, we’re written plenty about the popularity of the crossover segment. And truth be told? There are attractive, capable options at every price point. But that said, we think Jaguar—see the gorgeous F-Pace—and Alfa Romeo have absolutely killed it in the styling department, though if we were going to pick one to flog on our favorite back road, the Alfa would easily win that battle. Because the Italian’s specs make it just too temping.
Power comes from a 2.9-liter V-6, which pumps out a class-leading 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque. And since Alfa Romeo built the engine, you can rest assured every one of those ponies is going to wail like a banshee. With that amount of grunt under the hood, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio will sprint from zero to 60 mph in a scant 3.9 seconds, which for anyone who hasn’t been paying attention, is a wicked fast time for something that’ll handle being a soccer taxi with aplomb. Seriously, just a decade ago, numbers like that would have sounded like science fiction.
