We expect that the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE will make its official debut at L.A. Auto Show this November, but to whet our appetites for the latest version of the luxury mid-size SUV, the company just released a teaser video.
There aren’t any shots of the exterior in this very short clip, but as the camera pans over the interior, the text delivers an instruction — “be prepared!” — that hypes the big changes to the cabin.
The redesign should bring the GLE into line with the split screen dash design we’ve seen on the current E-Class, which we think is dead sexy, though at this point, there’s been no official confirmation about what we’ll find under the hood. That said, given that this baby will bow in La La Land, we’d say it’s a fair bet we’ll see a plug-in hybrid model, as this stop on the show circuit has traditionally been where automakers show off some of their greener vehicles. As far as meaner options, there will also be an AMG model on the menu at some point, which will sport a turbocharged V8, along with I4 and I6 options. Each power plant will be mated a nine-speed automatic that will send power to all four corners.
Look for the 2018 GLE to arrive at your local AutoNation-affiliated Mercedes-Benz dealer early next year.
