Earlier this month, we posted photos of the new “two-scoops” hood which the 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat will sport. But it looks like it’s not the only member of the automotive world’s favorite satanic clan that’s getting an update — because Ma Mopar just released a new teaser for the 2019 Charger Hellcat.
To us, it looks a hair skinnier than the outgoing model’s, and sports and least one additional intake in the grille. We’d imagine that intake will have a symmetrical match on the other side, but whether it’s going to take the place — or augment — the 2018’s hood scoop remains to be seen. One thing that hasn’t changed is the prominent Hellcat badge, as it looks as wicked cool as ever.
In our opinion, the only way to improve on the badge would be to make it bigger. How’s that for constructive criticism?
Now, it might seem a little silly to wonder about more power, given that 707 horsepower is more than enough for anything you can legally take to the grocery store. But we wouldn’t be surprised if the mad scientists at Dodge have managed to eek a few more ponies out of that monster mill.
As you might expect, our resident muscle car expert, Mike Musto, came away pretty impressed when he got to take the 2018 model for a spin recently, calling it “part Abrams battle tank, part top-fuel dragster , and part ‘take the kids to school’ machine.” For the record? He also opened his review with “Buy this car.” What can we say? Subtlety isn’t really Mike’s thing.
Like anything sporting the Hellcat engine, the 2019 Dodge Charger Hellcat is sure to fly off the lot of your local AutoNation Dodge dealer, so if you’re looking to put one in your garage, we’d recommend putting your order in now — come hell or high water.
