It was 2012 when we first saw the Audi TT RS on our shores. Immediately, this high-performance coupe stood apart from earlier TT and TTS models with its lower front end and distinctive egg crate grille. The racy spoiler further distinguished the TT RS, as did its adaptive suspension, five-cylinder engine, oversized exhaust, hard-to-miss diffuser, upgraded brakes, and vice-grip traction.
From day one, the TT RS was a hit with drivers and critics, and right now, there’s lots of buzz about Ingolstadt restyling the 2019 Audi TT RS.
For 2018, the Audi TT RS model sports a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder which pumps out 400 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque, and thanks to a new aluminum block, it’s 57 pounds lighter than previous units.
The potent little mill is mated to a seven-speed dual clutch, and of course, the company’s famous quattro all-wheel drive system. Audi’s magnetic ride suspension will make corner carving a breeze, and the signature sound—a throaty throttle and telltale raspy exhaust note—is still present. The driver-centric cockpit also includes steering wheel mounted ignition, and heated front seats covered in diamond-stitched Nappa leather.
2019 Audi TT RS Details Revealed
At this time, there isn’t anything earth-shattering to reveal about what’s been gleaned regarding the possible facelift of the 2019 Audi TT RS. But from looking at spy shots, we can tell you it looks like the front and rear ends will see the most significant changes to date. The signature front bumper will still ride low, there will also be some new stylings applied to the oversized air inlets, and minor update to the daytime running lights—along with a new LED strip—has been spotted. It also appears as if the rear wing is missing, and when viewed in profile, it also looks like there have been some tweaks to the sills.
