2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT Hatchback Diesel Exterior

Building on a traditional compact car form-factor, the 2018 Cruze Hatchback adds even more usability with a wide-opening rear “fifth door” and slightly shorter overall length when compared to the Cruze Sedan.

At the front, a sporty fascia houses automatic headlights and LED daytime running lights, along with a series of vents for enhanced engine and brake cooling. Powered and heated outside mirrors sit just above the bright beltline, while a small spoiler mounted on the rear hatch provides enhanced aerodynamic efficiency.

Our test model came in a luxurious Arctic Blue Metallic paint complemented by body-colored side moldings and 16-inch aluminum wheels. Power door locks and keyless entry are also included as standard equipment on the 2018 Cruze Hatchback.

While many small vehicles are rather utilitarian, the 2018 Cruze Hatchback breaks the mold with athletic styling and exciting details.

2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT Hatchback Diesel Interior

Through the use of thoughtful design and material selection, the roomy interior of the 2018 Cruze Hatchback offers plenty of comfort and convenience.

At the center of the dashboard is Chevrolet’s intuitive MyLink audio system that features a vibrant 7-inch color touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity. One of the best features of this simple-to-use system is Apple Carplay and Android Auto capability — plug in a compatible Apple or Android smartphone and instantly gain access to your music and app library, as well as turn-by-turn navigation that’s conveniently projected onto the screen.

Your smartphone’s voice assistant can be easily activated with the voice command button on the steering wheel, giving you hands-free access to phone calls, Internet searches, text message dictation, and more. MyLink also includes free trials of XM satellite radio, OnStar guidance plan, and 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Passenger comfort comes in the form of front buckets seats with 8-way powered adjustment for the driver, along with a 60-40 split-fold rear seat. Power windows, USB ports, and heated front seats are also included as standard equipment.

Rounding out the interior highlights are a 6-speaker audio system, floor mats, tilt & telescoping steering column, and a driver information center.

2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT Hatchback Diesel Performance

As the model name suggests, a potent 1.6-liter turbo-diesel powers this 2018 Cruze LT Hatchback, delivering 137 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque.

The designers at GM invested over 24,000 development hours to ensure this diesel engine has a wide torque curve and optimum efficiency, which translates to enhanced driver confidence and strong acceleration.

Quirks typically associated with diesel engines — emissions, combustion noises, shutdown rattle, etc — have been thoughtfully addressed via advanced fuel delivery, electronic valves, and optimized boost. The result is a quiet engine that doesn’t feel any different than a traditional gasoline motor.

Together with a 9-speed automatic transmission, our test model delivered solid vehicle handling dynamics that made navigating the congested streets of Los Angeles a breeze.

Fuel economy for the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze LT Hatchback Diesel is an EPA estimated 30 mpg city and 45 mpg highway**.
