Mercedes-Benz made a bang at the 2017 New York Auto Show as its performance arm, Mercedes-AMG, revealed the all-new GLC63, GLC63 Coupe, and the GLC63 S Coupe. All of these new Mercedes-AMG models add on to the existing GLC43 lineup but add a ton of power and performance for this mid-size crossover.
“For us, the new GLC63 is a quite special vehicle. It is no easy job designing an SUV to be highly sporty and dynamic while at the same time offering inherent extreme driving stability and efficiency,” says Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “This required us to put our heart and soul, along with our many years of SUV expertise, into the development of this vehicle. The result is an SUV that can be driven with high precision and agility and which, if required, is equally at home on a high-speed lap of the race track.”
How much additional power are we talking about here? Well, the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 SUV, GLC63 Coupe and GLC63 S Coupe are all powered by a 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine that is mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission. The engine allows for 469 horsepower in the GLC63 SUV and GLC63 Coupe and an insane 503 horsepower in the GLC63 S Coupe. That allows for a 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.9 seconds in the GLC63 SUV and Coupe, and a quick 3.7 seconds in the GLC63 S Coupe.
All models also take advantage of the AMG 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution, a rear-axle limited-slip differential, and a performance braking system.
The new 2018 Mercedes-AMG GLC63 SUV and Mercedes-AMG GLC63 Coupe are making their debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show and will go on sale nationwide later this year.
