2017 NYIAS: 2018 Volvo XC60 Follows in the Footsteps of the XC90

The Volvo XC90 SUV has been a huge success for the brand and is the object of desire for many new luxury SUV shoppers. However, Volvo is now bringing the success of the XC90 to those interested in a mid-size crossover with the all-new 2018 Volvo XC60.

The Volvo XC60 has been begging for a revamp for quite some time and Volvo has finally decided to redesign and re-engineer the aging model with a big influence from the already successful XC90.

Making its debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show, the 2018 Volvo XC60 looks pretty much like its older brother but with more rounded design cues.

“The all-new XC60 features an athletic design with a graceful, timeless quality,” Volvo said in a statement. “The expertly crafted interior features beautiful materials that blend Scandinavian design with technology and connectivity.”

The 2018 Volvo XC60 will also come with the new Sensus infotainment system which we’ve learned to love from the XC90 and the new S90. It will have Apple CarPlay connectivity, navigation, and a range of other apps. The 2018 Volvo XC60 will also come with various driver assist technologies including Steer Assist, Blind Spot Indication System, Pilot Assist, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, and much more.

The 2018 Volvo XC60 will be available with three engine choices including a 250 horsepower T5 turbo-power engine, a 316 horsepower T6 turbo, and a supercharged 400 horsepower T8 twin-engine plug-in electric hybrid. The 400 horsepower model will the Volvo XC60 the ability to go from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds, which is sports car level performance in our books.

The 2018 Volvo XC60 will go into production this month and will hit dealers shortly after. Prices and other details will be announced closer to launch date.
