Buick is making a big splash at the 2017 New York Auto Show with two new Regal variants. Meet the all-new 2018 Buick Regal Sportback and the new 2018 Buick Regal TourX.
The 2018 Buick Regal Sportback offers the Regal lineup a sleek four-door coupe like design with the trunk opening in hatchback style.
“The new Regal Sportback was developed with today’s active, independent, premium car customer in mind,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global Buick and GMC. “They have an SUV in the garage and are looking to complement it with a sport sedan, but have an appreciation for the usefulness of a versatile cargo space when an occasional need arises.”
Power for the Buick Regal Sportback comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine making 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The model offers all-wheel-drive and a large 60.7 cubic feet of space behind the first row.
The 2018 Buick Regal TouringX, on the other hand, takes on the likes of the Audi A4 Allroad, BMW 3 Series Sport Wagon, and the Subaru Outback. The Regal TouringX comes standard with intelligent AWD with active twin-clutch that provides proper vehicle control and efficiency in any condition. It is also powered by the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine found in the Regal Sportback.
“Regal TourX is a crossover in the truest sense of the word, with the drive dynamics of a car and the versatility of an SUV,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, global Buick and GMC. “Additionally, it continues a trend set by the Cascada and Encore of bringing Buick’s contemporary design and attainable luxury credentials to new segments where customers are looking for more. TourX enters a vibrant segment with passion and youthful energy where drivers are able to experience the new Buick.”
Both models will go on sale in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2017.
