2017 Nissan Sentra Nismo Exterior

When a Nissan vehicle wears the NISMO badge, it means a special team of engineers and designers have turned an already great car into an even better one, and thankfully they’re not shy about showing off their work.

NISMO’s signature red color can be found along the lower body panels of the Sentra, drawing attention to the “layered double wing” design that gives the car an aggressive appearance and sporty feel. A unique front fascia — featuring standard LED daytime running lights and a dark chrome V-Motion grille — works in conjunction with the NISMO rear spoiler and revised rear bumper to maintain the same drag coefficient of the standard Sentra, but reduce aerodynamic lift by 30%.

Our test model came painted in Aspen White — one of four available colors for the 2017 Sentra NISMO — and made a perfect canvas to spotlight the red and black accents found throughout the exterior. Other features include a NISMO exhaust finisher, dark chrome door handles and trunk finisher, and 18-inch NISMO 10-spoke aluminum alloy wheels.

These visual cues and a slightly lower ride height help the 2017 Sentra NISMO stand out from the sea of compact cars, and leaves no doubt that performance is its main priority.

2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO Interior

The performance-focused design continues on the inside of the 2017 Sentra NISMO with red and carbon fiber-inspired accents throughout the cabin, and a red stripe at the top of the Alcantara and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

For the spirited driver, unique NISMO front seats provide comfort and excellent side bolstering — easily one of our favorite features of the interior. Rear passengers are treated to a roomy bench seat with red accent stitching.

As part of the optional NISMO Premium package, a 5.8-inch color touchscreen is your portal to the Sentra’s infotainment system and vehicle settings. The intuitive menu system provides quick access to satellite radio, bluetooth phone system, Siri Eyes Free iPhone integration, and more. Our test model also came equipped with the available NissanConnect, which adds GPS navigation and a selection of mobile apps like Facebook and online search.

Finishing the motorsports-inspired look is a dark headliner which perfectly complements the red accents and charcoal interior color of the 2017 Sentra NISMO.

2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO Performance

Under the hood of the 2017 Sentra NISMO is a fast-revving 1.6-liter direct injection turbocharged engine that produces 188 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. This peppy motor produces maximum torque between 1,600 and 5,200 RPM, making the car ready to accelerate at a moment’s notice.

A continuously variable valve timing control system paired with advanced cylinder technologies help to improve combustion and power — apply throttle and the car jumps to life with a smooth, linear, and seemingly endless amount of acceleration.

Part of what makes the Sentra NISMO so special is the balance that’s achieved through unique suspension and chassis enhancements — an advantage of being a factory-tuned vehicle. The result is a total package that confidently manages the vehicle’s body movements for quick cornering capability, better response, and improved grip over the standard Sentra.

There are few compact cars that can match the rewarding driving experience of the 2017 Sentra NISMO, especially when equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. This sport sedan will have you taking the long way home because it just feels so good to drive.

Fuel economy for the Sentra NISMO is yet to be published, but for reference, the 2017 Sentra SR Turbo with manual transmission gets an EPA estimated 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway**.

2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO Safety

Every 2017 Sentra model comes equipped with a variety of standard safety and security features, like an advanced air bag system, rollover sensor, seat belt pre-tensioners and load limiters, and much more.

Traction control, vehicle dynamic control, and electronic brake force distribution come standard on the Sentra NISMO, and work together to help keep you on your intended path. In the event of a crash, the Sentra’s front and rear crumple zones absorb energy in an effort to minimize impact to passengers.

Our test model also came equipped with the optional back up camera, as well as standard vehicle immobilizer and security system.
