2017 MINI Clubman S ALL4 Test Drive Review

There was a time that MINI used to only make a single model, but that has now changed. The lineup now includes five vehicles and is more diversified for those that still want a MINI but also want some additional space and practicality. With that in mind, we decided to spend some time with the all-new 2017 MINI Clubman, which is indeed the most spacious MINI the brand has ever built. With seating for up to five passengers, a trunk volume of 17.5 cubic feet, and a cargo volume of 47.9 cubic feet, the MINI Clubman has all the space you need in a stylish package.

While there are other competitors on the marked like the Audi A4 Allroad, the Volkswagen Golf SportWagen, the Volkswagen Golf Alltrack – the MINI Clubman offers all the style, practicality, and quality you could ever need. Let’s take a closer look at the new 2017 MINI Clubman.

MINI has always been a brand built on chic styling and that stands true for the 2017 MINI Clubman. Size-wise, the MINI Clubman stands pretty close to the MINI Countryman. However, the MINI Clubman offers all that size packaged into the low-riding style of a station wagon.

Measurements-wise, the 2017 MINI Clubman sits on a wheelbase that measures 105.1 inches. The overall length comes in at 168.3 inches and the overall length comes in at 70.9 inches. The MINI Clubman height comes in at 56.7 inches.

Style-wise, the 2017 MINI Clubman features the updated and fresh new face of the brand with round headlamps that are wrapped in a chrome frame. The front end is further highlighted by hexagon grille, a curved front hood, and turn indicators in the wheel arches.

Our 2017 MINI Clubman S ALL4 also featured a red ’S’ badging and “ALL4″ badging on the front side panels. Of course, there are many versatile ways to customize your money and things like roof and exterior mirror caps can be optionally finished in white, silver, or black.

Overall, the exterior of the 2017 MINI Clubman is much more stylish than that of its competitors.

The interior of the 2017 MINI Clubman is all about style, quality, and comfort. Every button, screen, and switch is laid out ergonomically. MINI likes to compare its interior styling to that of a “cockpit” and we certainly agree. As you may think, the center circular display of the MINI is usually the speedometer, but that has now changed.

The center circular screen now houses the MINI Connected infotainment system, and the speedometer and other driver information display has been moved to where it belongs – in front of the driver. Depending on the options you go for, the 2017 MINI Clubman comes standard with a 6.5-inch display or an 8.8-inch display if you go for the navigation system. Other standard and optional features include Bluetooth connectivity, a rear-view camera, a Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, and a range of safety features that we’ll get into later.

Interior space-wise, the 2017 MINI Clubman offers 41.4-inches of legroom for front passengers and 32.3-inches of legroom for rear passengers. Trunk volume comes in at 17.5 cubic feet and cargo space with the seats down comes in at 47.9 cubic feet.

Overall, the interior of the 2017 MINI Clubman is stylish and one that pays attention to the use of high-quality materials.

The 2017 MINI Clubman is available with a range of engine choices including a three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo engine making 134 horsepower, a four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo making 189 horsepower, and a high-performing four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo making 228 horsepower.

Mated to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, 0 to 60 mph comes in just 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 142 mph.
