2017 Dodge Durango GT AWD Exterior

The Dodge Durango’s commanding presence, capability, and bold styling has the Michigan-based manufacturer calling it the “Dodge Charger of SUVs.”

Take one glance at the 2017 Durango GT and you’ll quickly understand where that nickname comes from. Front-and-center on the GT model is Dodge’s signature blacked-out crosshair grille flanked by high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, as well as an aggressively-styled lower valance with fog lights.

Our test model’s Octane Red Pearl paint job complemented the black accents found throughout the exterior of vehicle while the Brass Monkey appearance package added 20-inch burnished bronze aluminum wheels to give a muscle car-inspired look.

The softly-rounded edges of the vehicle flow gently into thoughtful character lines as you move towards the back of the vehicle where you’ll find a power rear lift gate and Dodge’s signature “racetrack” tail light design.

The optional Customer Preferred Package on our test model added black roof rails with integrated crossbars and a power sunroof, while the Trailer Tow Group IV prepares the Durango for heavy hauling with a Class IV receiver hitch, heavy duty engine cooling, and rear load leveling suspension.

2017 Dodge Durango GT AWD Interior

With standard seating for seven, the 2017 Dodge Durango GT excels at comfort and roominess. The driver’s seat features 8-way power movement with memory, and the 6-way adjustable front passenger seat also folds flat for added cargo capability.

All three rows of seating are wrapped in leather, and our test model came equipped with optional second-row fold/tumble captain chairs for added comfort and easy access to the third row. Air conditioning is customizable in three zones, and heated seats are available for the first and second rows.

Delivering all of your infotainment is the award-winning Uconnect system that features an 8.4-inch touchscreen display. This easy-to-use digital hub lets you access satellite radio, GPS navigation, bluetooth connectivity, vehicle settings, and more. Those with an Apple iPhone 4s or later can take advantage of Siri Eyes Free for a true hands-free experience — simply press the voice command button on the steering wheel and naturally speak commands to send text messages, play music, set reminders, place phone calls and access turn-by-turn directions.

For added entertainment options, our test model came equipped with the available Rear DVD Entertainment Center, which adds a Blu-Ray player, seat-mounted video screens, and video input connections for individual media sources.

An available second-row console with armrest adds extra storage, a USB charging port, and 12-volt auxiliary power outlet so your passengers can stay productive on long drives.

And for those times when you need to haul some serious cargo, the second- and third-row seats fold flat to provide 84.5 cu. ft. of usable space.

2017 Dodge Durango GT AWD Performance

The 2017 Durango GT’s on-road capability is made possible by a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 295 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission seamlessly manages gear shifts and available power while an engine start stop system lowers emissions and saves fuel.

This powertrain combo can tow up to 6,200 pounds, and delivers an EPA estimated fuel economy of 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway**.

And while the Durango has a large stature, it’s still light on its feet thanks to quick shock and spring rates, large sway bars, and electro-hydraulic steering. All of this comes together to deliver improved driving dynamics and enhanced driver confidence.

Our test model also came equipped with an all-wheel drive system that improves traction and handling on a variety of surfaces, and gives you the freedom to take the path less traveled.

2017 Dodge Durango GT AWD Safety

Standard on the 2017 Durango GT are advanced multistage front airbags, supplemental side-curtain airbags in all rows, a ParkView rear back-up camera, ParkSense rear park assist with stop, stability and traction control, and trailer sway damping.

Our test model came equipped with the optional Safety/Security and Convenience Group, which adds automatic high beam control, blind spot and cross path detection, rain sensing windshield wipers, and automatic headlamp leveling.

A variety of advanced braking technologies, like rain brake support, ready-alert braking, brake assist, and electronic brake force distribution help you maintain control of the vehicle as you rapidly reduce speed.
