Find out how Audi is setting new standards with a closer look at our all-new 2017 Audi A4 2.0T quattro test model.
2017 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Exterior
The 2017 A4 is an exquisite example of elegant styling and classical beauty. The exterior of this popular sedan has been redesigned for the new model year and now features more pronounced character lines and athletic proportions.
Audi’s signature Singleframe grille with aluminum-optic surround, LED headlights, and pronounced wheel arches give the A4 a strong look and determined stance. These three elements come together at the outside edge of the new clam-shell hood, and create the beginnings of a shoulder line that continues to the rear of the vehicle.
As the shoulder line wraps around the rear fascia, it seamlessly integrates into the LED taillights with dynamic turn signals. A molded lip atop the trunk and dual chrome exhaust tips finish out the A4’s flowing design language.
Our test model came in a stunning Moonlight Blue metallic paint, and featured S line exterior badging along with aluminum high-gloss window surrounds and 18-inch 5-spoke wheels in contrasting grey.
The 2017 A4’s clean design embodies the past and future of Audi, and is sure to turn heads wherever you go.
2017 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Interior
The interior of the 2017 A4 takes the meaning of luxury to new heights with premium materials, thoughtful design, and advanced technology.
Our test model featured Atlas Beige leather seating surfaces paired with a black interior and metallic accents. Three-zone climate controls are cleanly laid out on the center of the dashboard, and feature touch-sensitive buttons that give you a preview of the intended function before you press to activate.
Just above the A/C controls is an 8.3-inch MMI display that was equipped as part of the optional MMI Navigation Plus package. This is where you’ll find all of your entertainment, connectivity options, vehicle settings, maps, and more. An intuitive MMI all-in-touch controller situated on the center console gives you quick access to the menus and options, and also features a touchpad so you can hand-write your entries instead of scrolling through the alphabet. The MMI controller is one of our favorite in-car input methods because it’s simple, fast, and easy to operate.
Pairing nicely with the MMI display is Audi’s virtual cockpit, which exchanges the traditional instrument cluster for a large 12.3-inch full-color display powered by NVIDIA, a leader in graphics processing technology. The virtual cockpit can be customized to show a full-screen map, what’s playing on the radio, or vehicle statistics — all in an effort to provide pertinent information while keeping the driver’s focus on the road ahead. An available head-up display also projects vehicle speed and navigation directions for an augmented driving experience.
Other notable interior features include 8-way power adjustable front seats, a power sunroof, smartphone interface (for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D surround sound system.
2017 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Performance
Significant powertrain improvements were made to the 2017 A4, starting with the capable 2.0-liter TFSI engine that produces 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. A newly developed S tronic dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission delivers quick acceleration as well as excellent fuel efficiency.
The redeveloped chassis and suspension allow for a sporty driving experience while still maintaining comfort and compliance for grand-touring adventures. You can further personalize the A4’s performance characteristics with the standard Audi drive select — four distinct modes adjust gear shift points, steering weight, and damper stiffness to suit your driving style or mood.
Our test model came equipped with Audi’s legendary quattro all-wheel drive system, which provides improved grip on slippery surfaces or enhanced performance during spirited driving.
Fuel economy for the 2017 Audi A4 2.0T quattro is an EPA estimated 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway**.
2017 Audi A4 2.0T quattro Safety
The 2017 A4 comes loaded with numerous advanced safety features like electronic stability control, Audi pre sense (predictive full braking system), and a rearview camera, to name a few.
Our test model featured the optional Prestige package, which added even more driver assistance and safety technology. Parking system plus provides a 360-degree view around the car, while “Audi pre sense rear” monitors the traffic behind you and, if needed, can prepare the vehicle for impact by closing windows, pre-tensioning seat belts, and prepping the brake system for emergency maneuvers.
At speeds below 37 mph, you can activate traffic jam assist (part of the optional Driver Assistance package), which is an advanced feature that combines adaptive cruise control and active lane assist to manage the A4’s acceleration, braking, and steering on heavily congested roadways. Using traffic jam assist greatly reduced the amount of effort required to pilot the car, and was definitely one of our favorite driver assistance technologies — our daily commute suddenly became bearable.
