Mercedes-Benz has a huge presence at the 2016 New York Auto Show, but today’s surprise from the German luxury brand was the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet. Followed by the recently unveiled Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet, the 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8 from the sedan and the coupe finally makes its way into the convertible and pumps out a whopping 469 horsepower in the base model and 503 horsepower in the S model.
Mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sport transmission, the Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. If you want more speed, you may want to go for the C63 S Cabriolet which goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds flat with a top speed of 174 mph.
To maximize performance, you can circle through Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race modes to customize steering feel and overall acceleration.
In terms of dropping the top, Mercedes-Benz say that the fabric soft top on the Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet’s top can be operated at speeds of up to 31 mph, but it must be initiated before 3 mph.
“The C-Class is a decisive factor in our company’s success. The new combination of intensive open-air ambiance and powerful V8 engine is unique in the segment and perfectly supplements our large C-Class range,” said Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
Sales of the 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabriolet and C63 S Cabriolet will start in the fall of 2016.
