2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition Exterior

The Veloster’s three-door hatchback design — the third door opens from the passenger side — gives the car a compact form factor while flared wheel arches and a “floating roof” express a confident and athletic stance.

The most head-turning exterior feature of the Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition is its exclusive Matte Blue color. This stunning paint gives a sleek and stealthy look to the Rally Edition, and is the only color available for this limited-production model.

Complementing the car’s looks are a set of RAYS lightweight alloy wheels, which reduce unsprung weight by five pounds per wheel. Carbon fiber-inspired aero accents also add flair and functionality to the overall performance-focused aesthetic.

Other exterior highlights include a larger hexagonal front grille, a black rear bumper fascia, and center-mounted dual exhaust tips.

With all of these exciting styling cues, there’s no doubt that the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition is one cool coupe.

2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition Interior

The Veloster’s sport-inspired theme continues on the inside as you enter through the large driver’s side opening and slide into the supportive bucket seat. Matching blue accents are found on the transmission tunnel, the interior door handles, and on the side bolsters of the front seats. The word “Turbo” is also embroidered on the outside edge of each bucket seat, adding a nice special edition feel.

Second row seating is accessed on the passenger side via a third door, and seats two average-sized adults. The Veloster’s hatchback design, which gives rear passengers more headroom, also provides excellent cargo capabilities that can be increased by folding down the 60/40-split rear seats.

Your portal to entertainment and information is a 7-inch multimedia touchscreen that also features a rear view camera. Music, navigation, and smartphone connectivity are all at your fingertips as the system supports multi-touch and swipe gestures.

New for the 2016 model year is “Siri Eyes Free” iPhone integration as well as on-board music and app storage (6 GB for music and 4 GB for apps).

2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition Performance

Powering every 2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition is a quick-revving 1.6-liter Turbo GDI engine that produces 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. Active Sound Design enhances the exhaust note inside the cabin, and together with the standard 6-speed manual transmission provide an extremely engaging driving experience.

Power delivery is smooth and linear thanks to the elimination of torque surge when the engine revs wind up the turbocharger. The Veloster’s predictable powerband means you’re always in control when you decide to drive a bit more spiritedly.

The short-throw B&M Racing shifter and forgiving clutch operation make the Veloster easy to operate at slow speeds, and very rewarding on winding roads.

Specially-tuned springs, dampers, and front stabilizer bar on the Veloster Rally Edition provide even more handling capabilities while also improving feedback from the road. These enhancements help you feel more confident behind the wheel and give the car quick reflexes.

Fuel economy for the 2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition is an EPA estimated 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway**.

2016 Hyundai Veloster Rally Edition Safety

All Hyundai Velosters feature a standard rearview camera, six airbags, and 4-wheel disc brakes with an anti-lock braking system.

During hard braking situations, Electronic Brake-force Distribution helps the Veloster quickly scrub speed and keep the vehicle balanced by adjusting the braking force between the front and rear axles.

The car’s Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system utilizes electronic stability control in conjunction with the motor-driven power steering to keep you headed in the right direction, automatically applying counter-steering when necessary. With this system in place, you’re able to accelerate, brake, and take fast corners with confidence.

Other standard safety features include front seatbelt pre-tensioners, tire pressure monitoring system, and torque vectoring control which applies precise braking to the inside wheel during cornering for improved grip and better corner-exit acceleration.
