2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Plus Exterior

At first glance, the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan may seem like a run-of-the-mill minivan, but take a closer look at the details and you’ll soon find out this vehicle is all about comfort, convenience, and versatility.

On the SXT Plus trim, power sliding rear doors are standard equipment along with a power rear lift-gate. Each of these powered doors can be operated by front seat controls, the keyless remote, or exterior door handles. Rear passengers can operate the sliding doors from the inside with a button on the b-pillar.

To aid aerodynamic efficiency, an innovative Stow ‘n Place roof rack system features retractable roof bows for reduced drag when roof storage isn’t needed. A sculpted front fascia and Dodge’s signature “split crosshair” grille help to channel air around the car and into the engine compartment.

Our test model came in a sleek Billet Silver metallic clear coat exterior paint — one of nine exciting color options — and was paired with 17-inch polished aluminum wheels.

The optional Blacktop Package adds black headlamp bezels, a gloss black grille, and rear fascia scuff pad, and also deletes the roof rack for a really clean overall look.

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Plus Interior

Every seat is a great seat inside the 2016 Grand Caravan, especially when each of the standard three rows can have its own entertainment options.

At the front are leather and suede bucket seats with access to the award-winning Uconnect infotainment system. Using the 6.5-inch touchscreen display, you can select satellite radio, navigation, phone, Uconnect apps, and much more.

Our test model came equipped with the Dual DVD / Blu-Ray Entertainment package, which adds second- and third-row 9-inch video screens so passengers can watch movies or play videogames. A 40GB harddrive plus multimedia connections like HDMI and USB allow for each screen to display entertainment from a unique source for extra flexibility.

This entertainment package also comes with two pairs of wireless headphones and adds ambient lighting to the interior ceiling.

In terms of rear passenger seating, the second row features two Stow ‘n Go bucket seats while the third row is equipped with a 60/40 split Stow ‘n Go bench with tailgate seating. Both rows easily fold away into the floor panel to provide a flat cargo area. The space reserved for the Stow ‘n Go system also doubles as in-floor storage when the seats are in use.

The Grand Caravan SXT Plus trim comes standard with premium interior accents, a power 10-way driver’s seat, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Power second-row windows and vented rear quarter windows are also standard on the SXT Plus.

2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT Plus Performance

Under the hood of the 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is the award-winning 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, which produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb. ft. of torque. This peppy and capable motor is coupled with a six-speed automatic transaxle that delivers smooth shifts while keeping the Grand Caravan in its optimum torque range.

A driver-selectable fuel economizer mode, spoiler, and reduced aerodynamic drag all contribute to the Grand Caravan’s fuel economy, which is an EPA estimated 17 mpg city and 25 mpg highway**. This minivan will also accept E85 gasoline-ethanol as an alternate fuel option.

Driving the Grand Caravan is rewarding and effortless thanks to the performance-focused suspension and excellent feedback from the steering wheel. Body roll is well-managed, and the tight turning radius gives this minivan car-like maneuverability in dense city environments.

Our test model carried a variety of passengers on trips ranging from 20 minutes to over an hour, and everyone was impressed with the Grand Caravan’s superb ride quality and quietness.
