Cadillac has been very busy recently revamping its lineup and things are getting very exciting for the American luxury brand. One of its major launches this year is the all-new Cadillac CT6 full-size sedan. The Cadillac CT6 is meant to compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and the Lexus LS and it’s ready to attack the segment with all it has.
Sleek Cadillac styling, a range of powertrain choices, an extremely luxurious interior, a long list of outstanding technology features, and an extremely high-quality interior are just some of the things that the Cadillac CT6 is bringing to the game. Let’s take a closer look at the all-new 2016 Cadillac CT6.
Don’t mistake this for the Cadillac CTS. While the new 2016 Cadillac CT6 looks similar to the CTS, upon closer inspection you’ll notice the flagship look and feel with the long hood and the bold front end.
On the front, the Cadillac CT6 introduces the brand’s sleek new look with a refreshed grille, vertical LED light design, and sloping hood. Swing around the rear and the Cadillac CT6 does a very good job of showing off its lightweight architecture and rear-wheel-drive sportiness. Depending on the model you buy, the Cadillac CT6 is available with 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch wheels.
The 2016 Cadillac CT6 sits on a wheelbase that measures 122.4 inches with the overall length coming in at 204 inches. The overall width comes in at 74 inches and the height comes in at 57.9 inches.
When compared to its competitors, the 2016 Cadillac CT6 definitely offers a fresh new look to a segment that seems to be neglected with sleek and sexy styling.
The interior of the 2016 Cadillac CT6 embodies the core of craftsmanship and luxury. Every corner and every inch of the Cadillac CT6 is covered with high-quality materials – a tactic that it borrowed from the legendary Escalade.
The overall interior layout of the cabin definitely pays homage to the classic large American luxury sedans but incorporates modern design and features seamlessly.
The Cadillac CT6 comes with a long list of standard features but depending on the trim level you pick, you’ll get to enjoy a 10.2 inch screen that houses the Cadillac CUE infotainment system, wireless phone charging, OnStar 4G LTE WiFi, a rearview camera monitor, night vision, 360-degree camera, surround-view video recording, quad-zone climate control, an amazing custom Bose Panaray sounds system with 34 speakers, a rear-seat infotainment system with 10-inch screens in the headrests, and much more.
One of our favorite features is what Cadillac calls the “Articulating Rear Seat Package” which offers 3.3 inches of adjustable seat travel, lumbar settings, tilting cushions, heating/cooling, and armrest with media controls that include HDMI and USB ports. And all that is topped off with an amazing massaging feature, which is the ultimate luxury for rear seat passengers.
The 2016 Cadillac CT6 offers plenty of room for all passengers with front legroom coming in at 42.4 inches and rear legroom coming in at an amazing 40.4 inches.
The 2016 Cadillac CT6 comes with a range of powertrain choices. The range is kicked off with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 265 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the Cadillac CT6 2.0T goes from 0 to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph. We spent a long week with the CT6 2.0T and we have to say that at no point did we think we were driving a four-cylinder large luxury sedan. The power delivery from the engine is instantaneous and the drive was exceptionally smooth.
Of course, if you want more power Cadillac also offers a 3.6-liter V6 powertrain for the CT6 that carries an output of 335 horsepower and a peak torque of 284 lb-ft. If you’re all about performance, you may want to consider the Cadillac CT6 3.0TT. That specific model is powered by a 3.0-litertwin turbo V6 engine making an outstanding 404 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.
No matter which model you pick, the Cadillac CT6 drives simply outstanding – especially with the help of Magnetic Ride Control on the available Active Chassis System which further improve the sporty dynamics of this large luxury sedan.
Our test model, the Cadillac CT6 2.0T, will save you the most money at the gas pump with an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 22/31 mpg* (city/highway).
While the 2016 Cadillac CT6 comes with a range of standard safety features, it also has a long list of driver assistance features that are simply impressive. Some of those optional features include forward collision alert, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot alert, rain sensing wipers, night vision camera, automatic front and rear braking, automatic park assist, low speed automatic braking and much much more.
It’s definitely obvious that Cadillac did its homework before jumping into the large luxury sedan segment. It has completely nailed every aspect from design, luxury, exclusivity, technology features, and more. The main thing that Cadillac nailed is the pricing of the CT6 which starts at $53,495** – much lower than most of its competitors. If you’re in the market for a large luxury sedan make sure you visit your local AutoNation-affiliated Cadillac store for a test drive of the new CT6.
