Complimenting last year’s exterior and interior refresh, the 2015 Volvo S60 added a range of new powertrain options to the Swedish sports sedan. Known as “Drive-E,” the S60’s new powertrain pairs a small 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
The Volvo S60 is offered in two Drive-E flavors: the 240 horsepower turbocharged Volvo S60 Drive-E T5, and the 302 horsepower turbocharged and supercharged Volvo S60 Drive-E T6. Both options offer terrific fuel economy, with the Drive-E T5 earning fuel economy figures of 25 MPG city and 37 MPG highway, and the Drive-E T6 managing 24 MPG city and 35 MPG highway. All-wheel drive 2015 Volvo S60 models continue to use the previous 5- and 6-cylinder engines.
Midway through the year, Volvo added its Sensus Connect and Volvo On-Call systems to all S60 models. Volvo calls these S60s 2015.5 model year vehicles and a 2015.5 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E was provided to us to test over the course of a week. Sensus Connect offers cloud-based services courtesy of in-car WiFi internet connection. Volvo On-Call is the company’s smartphone app that allows owners to control their Volvo remotely.
